Frankum Adoption Story

Meet the Frankum family, after years of trying to start a family, they finally have one with their special Lilly.  Here is their story:

Britt and I were married January 17, 2004. After trying to have a baby for over a year, we were disappointed when nothing happened. We began fertility treatments and after 4 years of a lot of pain and heart ache we felt defeated. All along we were praying to God for guidance and praying that his plan was to give us a baby. Every month we were disappointed to find it just was not happening.

Adoption was scary for us at first because we had no idea what it entailed or what the process would be like. We began looking into international adoption around October 2007…funny, that’s when our sweet Lilly was born. We researched agencies and programs for months. We had two friends tell us great things about European Adoption Consultants and we decided to request some more information from their agency. Soon we were on the journey of a lifetime.

From the first moment of our decision to adopt, we were on a whirlwind. I found out quickly what the term “paper pregnant” really meant. The process is very much like being pregnant. The anticipation is unbearable, the fear is uncontrollable, and the excitement is unbelievable. The moment we got the phone call from Karla at EAC that she had found our daughter we were on cloud nine. It is hard to imagine loving someone you have never met or seen, but its true…I began to love her the moment I heard her name “Yi Sha.” She was born in Yixing City in the Jiangsu Province on October 5, 2007, the year of the pig. She has a repaired cleft lip and un-repaired palate.

On September 16, 2009 we flew to China. To say that the trip was amazing would be an understatement. We had such a wonderful time and met some of the most amazing people. Mr. Zhou made the experience a very memorable one. We made friends that we will never forget and memories we will be telling Lilly about for the rest of her life. She is the most precious child God could have ever brought in to our lives. She is beautiful, witty, and very clever. She loves people and has a way of mesmerizing everyone she meets.

I prayed she would bond very quickly to us and she did. The moment I held her in my arms she stopped crying and wrapped her arms around me and has never really let go. She is her Daddy’s little angel and her Mamma’s little sweetie pie. Her smile lights up the room and she is so smart and curious. She is everything that I dreamed of. I am so thankful that I finally got to experience the arrival of a child and look forward to the adventures of being a parent.

With Love, Britt, Tony, and Lilly. The Frankum Family.
