Help Your Child Adjust Before Coming Home Tip #2

Doing activities with them, in country, that encourages attachment.

We know that you would already want to do activities with your newly adopted child, but just as a reminder, we suggest that you spend some time with them before flying back home.  Doing fun activities will allow the child to attach to you and bond with you.  You don’t want to be a stranger to them when you take them on their first flight home, it can cause some serious problems and frustration.

This is also a great chance to get to know more about your child in their own element.  Found out what your child likes and enjoys about their culture and homeland.  Whether it be certain types of food, toys, traditions these are great to bring home with you to continue and help your child adjust to their new home.
